AH Slideshow & Party

Earlier this month I was asked to shoot Animal Haven‘s Winter Cocktail Party, which took place at a friend of the shelter’s spectacular loft apartment. Bulldog Gin supplied the liquor and the wonderful restaurant Salt supplied the amazing food. During the event, Australian singer Sia sang her hit song “Breathe Me” alongside a slideshow presentation that Kendra Mara (Director of Community Involvement at AH), put together featuring many of her photos as well as several of mine.

Kendra also had a few of my photos blown up to poster size displayed throughout the party. Go HERE to view the rest of the photos from the fabulous event. Click here to see the VIDEO I shot during the live performance, it’s pretty powerful stuff so look out. Oh and please excuse the shaky camera work, I promise to bring a tripod next time.

Soho

I was walking dogs in Soho this evening and saw this bizarre scene on Crosby Street. I made a mental note to go back afterward with my camera, and shot it using only existing light on ISO 6400. I’m thinking it’s leftover holiday decorations from Bloomingdale’s or something, what do you think?

Update: A reader pointed out that the trash is from the clothing store TOPSHOP that is located around the corner on Broadway, and is apparently making a lot of the neighbors angry because they don’t take care of their crap properly. Regardless, I was trying to capture the surrealness of it all.

Dyker Heights

Every year I always hear about these amazing Christmas lights in Brooklyn that are a must see. They are actually in the neighborhood next to mine yet I’ve never gone, so when I found someone who shared my enthusiasm (thanks Amy!), and convinced my Husband to drive it was a done deal. Each house tries to out do the next and it’s pretty incredible, and if you go on a weekend evening there’s even a real live Santa!

See the rest of the photos HERE, along with a few fun snow photos (including a few of my cats). Not sure how long they stay up for but I highly recommend checking them out in person. I heard there’s a guy who shuttles people out there in a van from Union Square, or you could just take the subway of course but make sure to bundle up!
